Another Disney movie has been remade, no it’s not the little mermaid, not yet. I’m talking about our favorite unlikely couple, Aladdin and Jasmine. The new Aladdin movie is the live action remake of Disney’s 1992 Aladdin directed by Guy Ritchie and featuring Will Smith playing Genie, Mena Massoud as Aladdin, Naomi Negahban as Jasmine, Nasim Pedrad as Dalia and Marwan Kenzari as Jafar.

Aladdin is a story following a, “street rat” falling in love with princess Jasmine, and after being tricked by the menacing Jafar Aladdin befriends a magical genie and uses his wishes to try and win Jasmine over and defeat Jafar.

Although the movie sticks very close to the original there is some changes that may upset some Aladdin lovers. Many lyrics were changed in many of the songs including, “Arabian Nights,” “Prince Ali,” “Friend like me,” and more. Some scenes were also mildly changed and costumes were changed also. The movie did keep many of the most iconic scenes the same to appease the original movie lovers which was rewarding, but some of the changes had already made their damage on the movie.

In my opinion, I think it was a good movie, it had the iconic moments that we all wanted to see. It’s a great movie for children and Disney lovers and it brought these beloved characters to life. Although it was a good movie it still could never beat the original thing.
